“HOST-A-ROAST” – National Dinner Party on Saturday
28th October 2000
Details below of this Autumn Fund Raiser idea from the Countryside Alliance, together with extracts from the National Executive thoughts on the whole picture:
“We’ve had the Rally and the March, now it’s the “sit down and Eat” protest, - (hoping that this idea could run for years, giving a much needed financial “shot in the arm”), but at the same time this is an opportunity to enjoy British Food and support the Countryside Alliance and celebrate rural Britain.
The idea is for someone to host a roast/bbq, dinner party, lunch or buffet on the evening of 28th October (the night the clocks go back), or something near that date such as Sunday lunch or Friday evening. Ask those attending to contribute £10 each to the Alliance and bring some wine. –Hopefully they’ll all have a good night out, - we make £100 on average per party – it’s that simple.
In addition, on the night of the National Host a Roast we will be operating an Internet on line auction – (its up and running already), so find a space for a computer on the table, plug into the phone line and be part of the “big picture” – if you don’t have a computer or modem, invite someone who has!
If you feel you could host a roast and help British Farming at the same time, please ask for a “Host a Roast” National Dinner Party invitation pack from the Countryside Alliance, the Old Town Hall, 367 Kennington Road, London SE11 4PT
